Sanzo family, possibly Gildone, Compobasso

Post by CarolMorris63 »

Hello again,

On my husband's side of the family, we have hit a brick wall.

His great grandfather is Ralph Sanzo (born 1859), later immigrated to USA in 1890.

Also, his wife was Maria Grassi (born 1861), no immigration information.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and effort!

Hi immigration record (ship manifest) should give you his town of birth. Without that you are looking for a needle in a haystack. Records for Campobasso up to 1865 can be found on line at the antenati website and at Family Search up to 1910.

Looks like all of the family is from Gildone, is that correct?

Again, my heartfelt thanks and appreciation.

You are correct. In the records above, all are either born in or residents of Gildone.

I am back working on my husband's Sanzo family from Gildone.
I am now searching for the death of Achille Sanzo, born 1 Feb 1825.
A different family states death as 9 July 1906 in Gildone, but has no record or source.
Also, they say occupation is fabbro. Is that blacksmith?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

Our relative is Raffaele Sanzo born 1858. Does he have a sibling Annibale Maria Nicola Sanzo, born maybe 1852?

I have no records, but saw the name on another family tree.

Thank you once again.

Yes, a male. (maschio in the record)
The given name of Annibale is masculine, and Maria is often given to males in honor of the mother of Jesus, generally as a secondary given name.
