I AM TRYING TO LOCATE FAMILY IN ITALY. MY FATHER WAS BORN IN MONTEPRANDONE IN 1897. HIS NAMEWAS GIUSEPPE MAURIZI, FATHER DENICOLA, MOTHER, LUIGIA BALESTRA. HE CAME TO USA AROUND 1921. I AM NOT SURE, BUT I BELIEVE HE CAME INTO THE BOSTON AREA. HAD THREE BROTHERS, PASQUALE, FREDERICO, AND ANTONIO, ONE SISTER ROSE. ANTONIO CAME TO AMERICA A COUPLE YERS BEFORE MY DAD. REST OF FAMILY IS IN ITALY. WOULD ALSO LIKE TO FIND NAME OF SHIP HE SAILED TO THIS COUNTRY ON. ANY HELP WOULD BE ETERNALLY GRATEFUL. THANKS! GREAT SITE!!

Thge microfilm indexes only go to 1920 and since you are not sure this is to be a two step procedure and hopefully the first will be the one. When you go to the FHLibraray nearest your home request NARA microfilm T521-6 and this microfilm will be in the FHL catalogue 1324979 or1205460. If he is not listed and entered the USA after 1920 then file form 81 with NARA. Go to www.genealogylookups.com/narchives.htm for the form 81 passenger arrival record. Peter
To find family in Monteprandone I would suggest that you go to www.paginebianche.it and ionsert Maurizi in the first line and Monteprandone in the third line and click CERCA and a listi of 14 Maurizi persons/business will appear. You may wish to write one generic letter to all of them including a self addressed envelope with a dollar inside for stamp[s and ask them if they are related to youi. You cna write in Italian or VERY SIMPLE SENTENCES IN ENGLISH..My name is. I am the daughter of...> I am seeking the family of one.... English is a second language in schools in Italy so it will be understood if you don\'t get complicated. Peter
Thanks Peter, I found the 14 Maurizi\'s and now am in the process of writing the letters. I know I have family in Italy and it\'s going to be great to correspond with them. I want my grandchildren to have this information. I know someday they will be interested in their roots. I just love this site. I am so glad I stumbled upon it. I really appreciate you getting me this infomation. Rose
If it weren\'t for Edmondo Tardio, the webmaster none of this would have happened. This is a non-profit website that generates no income and is run on a shoestring. I am a volunteer here and not connected to anyone but enjoy the opportunity to assist people like yourself. None of this would happen without Edmondo. Peter
I sent a donation to Edmondo at his home address on February 26th and I was wondering if he received it. It was sent cash and I hope that he received it. How can I find out?
The older generations who lived in southern Italy certainly remember the sound of the bells or the siren that occurred at various times of the day. Life was marked by simple and repetitive gestures: work, the relationship with nature, sharing with the family and the people of the small villages. Now...
