D'Aurora and Spagnola Families

Post by CLJD »

Hello!

In researching our family history, I have documents stating that Daniel Anthony D'Aurora, was born in Pettorano sul Gizio, L'Aquila, Abruzzi, Italy on 3 January 1891. Father is named as Anthony D'Aurora and his mother's maiden name as Angelina Spagnola. Daniel is listed as Donato on Ellis Island Immigration records as departing Naples on 10 Oct 1906 and arriving USA onboard the ROMA on 24 Oct 1906 at the age of 15 years.
Daniel joined his older brother, Joseph D'Aurora, in Steubenville, Ohio.

I have additional information regarding Daniel once he arrived in the United States but our Italian connections are unknown except for what is stated above. If you are researching either of these families, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Thank You!

Have you sent to Italy for further records on the family?

Hi CJ & welcome to the forum,

To trace the family in Italy, you can order/rent the LDS films for the town of Pettorano sul Gizio. These are films of the original birth, marriage & death acts for 1809 to 1865. Any record prior to 1809 & after 1865, you will have to request by contacting the city hall (Ufficio dello Stato Civile).

Available films:

Locate your nearest LDS-Family History Center.

A guide to obtaining these films.

An Italian-English genealogical word list to help translate the records.

Address to write or email for records is provided at this site.

All communication should be in Italian. If writing include a copy of your photo ID, an international reply coupon (obtain from you post office) and a self addressed return envelope.

Same form letters.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the posts. As I haven't attempted to send for records in Italy, I appreciate the guidance.
