Sarno, Salerno after the mudslides

Post by Poipuo4 »

About ten years ago there were devastating mudslides in Sarno, Salerno. I was wondering if anyone knows whether the archives were destroyed or damaged.

In case this is helpful to anyone with roots in Sarno, I wanted you to know that I received a very quick relpy from the Ufficio Civile, including the integrale act of my grandfather's birth. :D They used my return envelope, but did not request payment for the certificate or postage.

You know, lately I'm finding that these offices don't ask for much other than postage or self addressed envelopes..and lately, not even that.

Riccardo made some requests on my behalf last week to some offices just to get the information of what I would need to send and I hadn't even faxed the info over and I already received the replies..in only six days!

Everytime of research or request has its advantages and disadvantages but since its so hard for me to get out a lot these days, I find writing requests (with help of course) not that bad.
