HELP ME!!! LOOKING FOR RELATIVES OF MAZZOCCO GIACOMINO!

Post by MariaMazzocco »

Hi everybody!!! I've just joined this community and I hope you'll help me and my family!!! It's so long I'm looking for an uncle of mine!!! His name was MAZZOCCO GIACOMINO and he was born in CERRO AL VOLTURNO - ITALY on 25 February 1870...

He left Italy to USA (probably Pennsylvania) when he was young and after few letters my family and me, we lost his traces. The only thing we know is that he married and got one daughter... That's way, maybe, there are no traces on our surname!

Please, if you know something or if you could help me in my research telling me to whom can I turn to receive information, I will be so grateful!!!

Thanks in advance to everybody,

Maria Mazzocco

Maria, Hello and Welcome to the Forum :D !

Have you seen Giacomino's record at Family Search?
(just type in his name, hit search,
click his name under the Pedigree
Resource File)

There's a possible contact name at the bottom
of the record. This file appears to be an extensive
transcription of births from Cerro al Volturno.
(check your private messages for his complete
address from public records)

Hi Maria!
Not having much luck on tracking Giacomino down.
Quite a few manifests for Mazzocco's from Cerro al
Volturno, but nothing seems to match.
A couple of questions for you, do you know the
approximate dates on the letters he wrote?
Any idea on the town he wrote from (in Pennsylvania?)
Sometimes a location can really help because of mis-spellings
on records.
Also, would he have 'Americanized' his name? James?
Thanks! Valarie :D

Dear Valarie,

Thank you for your help!!! I also saw the manifests you're talking about and there is no trace on Giacomino...

The things I know:

- his destination was (I think) Newcastle! If I search in Ellis Island for his brothers and relatives their destination was Newcastle and I know for sure that, at least one of them, went to him! [If you need more I can send you the files I found] [I even found some addresses but concerning these people not him!!]

- The dates... The only thing I say it's he sent his last letter after the II World War

- one more information... I know he was trying to become engineer...

Last but not least, I don't know if he would americanized his name but I think it's probable... this is the reason why I'm not looking for Death Record book... I don't know what I have to look for...

Thank you so much, Maria

Suanj, the problem is that Cerro Al Volturno in that moment was a little little town and many things got lost during the years.... Certainly he was not married... he married in the USA...

Suanj, we have thought the same thing.... The matter is that we don't know anything concerning his children... Our family knew he had a daughter... But we don't know if he had an only child or more...

Maria, thanks for the additional information :D .
You have all his brother's and relative's US census
& military records? It may be bit out of the ordinary
that he wouldn't have lived in the same area.
If we could find & confirm just one record it may lead to
where you could write for his marriage & death records  .
We'll all see what we can do to help.

Maria, when you get a chance
Could you tell us who else immigrated to the US.
Just for reference we should look at their census/miltary
records to see if we can find Giacomino too.
You & suanj have a really nice possible connection
in the New Mexico records with Giacomino's father's
name.
Thanks! Valarie

maria,

I live 17 miles from New Castle and work with many people from there.

Would you like me to ask around about that surname?
