Lemonsea,

Here is a possible ship manifest for a Domenico Cantarini from Foligno which is in the province of Perugia. Perugia is shown as Domenico's place of birth on his WWII Draft Registration card posted above. Could it be that your great great frandfather was from Foligno rather than Miglianico which is in the province of Chieti? See line 19.

She told me she knew them really well and grew up with the Tardio's. She knew a Gloria. And she said something about a printing business they may have had in Plains?

Amazing! I was born and raised in Carbondale. I ended up leaving in 1974 to take a job opportunity in New York and moved to Florida in 1994, but I'll always be a Coal Cracker, and home to me will always be northeastern Pennsylvania.

Now that Manifest might be the right Domenico, because in the 1910 census you sent, Nello wasn't even a yr. old, and he was 27 when Nello was born. That's the same manifest that Suanj found. very helpful!

Lemonsea,

Gloria was my Mom's sister. She married Mike Elko. In the basement of their home on St Johns St was St Johns Press which my Mom's brother Joe ran in the evenings and on the weekends after he finished his work as a factoryhand. My Mom is Lucy. The other Tardio children were John and Rose. Rose married Victor Vitali, Joe married Helen Kokinda and John married Lillian Gnecco. The only two children left now are my Mom and Rose.

That's really neat! I'll let her know. She's in her 80's now and was having trouble remembering everyone, but she is interested in remembering the rest of the family. Her name is Adele Lemek. There were 8 kids in her family all together. Her sister Genevieve Lemek (my grandmother) married Bernard Canterini (my grandfather), son of Nello and Carrie Canterini. So that's how I got tied into the Canterini family.

I'll see what else I can find on your family. Do you know your great great grandmother Maria's maiden name? Be neat if we could find her ship manifest.

Unfortunately I don't. That's another thing I'm hoping to find out. I'm sure the more research I do I'll eventually come across it~ I greatly appreciate the help. And thank you for John Lemeks registration. Adele's really interested in finding more info as well!

Maria's maiden name might be on Nello's birth certificate or his baptismal certificate. I believe the only Roman Catholic Church in Plains was Sacred Heart. You might give them a call to see if they can locate a record for you. The 1930 census shows Maria was naturalized. Her naturalization papers might also include her maiden name.

Interesting find here. A WWII Draft Registration Card for Enrico Cantarini. Birthplace Colfiorito which is a hamlet in the town of Foligno. Possible brother/cousin of Domenico?

If Enrico is Domenico's brother, then we now know your great great great grandfather's name.
