No problem Essgee.

You guys did all the hard stuff so at least I feel like I contributed something!

By the way, congrats on having received your records after so many years. You must be in heaven! I also received many new documents this week after 2 years of trying and I couldn't agree more..with the facts backing you its only speculation.

Have a great one as well. :D

I am coming to the conclusion that my great grandfather MAY have been a liar (hehehe). There are 2 Vincenzo Aloise's in the 1905 ships manifests. But the birthdate's do not match up (year) with what we have for him and what he wrote on his WWI registration. My father thinks he was older than he said. My dad has a copy of the marriage license and well... He was already older than her (He actually married her here in teh USA when she was 15yrs.) They lied on the marriage license so she was 17yrs. and then made him 2 yrs older (21ish) so....

None of it surprises me. Back then you did what you had to do. End of story :D I just really wish it was easier to find out. :)

I do not know which one (if either) are him BUT the 2nd one with the 801 Weber address is sticking in my gut. Fo whatever reason I have seen that address somewhere in all of this stuff I have researching and it is there in my head. The 1st one though says he is going to Pittsburgh as well but he is meeting himself?? So I will look harder and do some more research :)

Thanks!!

You're right, tough to know for sure!
Don't look too hard for 801 Webster Street, Pittsburgh,
in your records.
It was a very common destination for Pittsburgh.
I've seen it a lot in looking thru manifests and have
it myself for at least one family member  .

Staci.....

The 21 year old Vincenzo arrived first. Then the 18 year old Vincenzo arrived a month or so later.

The 18 year old was going to meet his cousin, Vincenzo Aluise. Could be that the 21 year old was the cousin he was going to meet.

Now, who is who is still up for grabs......who had a brother named Santo?

Cool. One of the things I want to find out is who his siblings are. We know of Marie (Santelli) and we know of Domenico (change to Dominic later) so who knows. Once I write to the Commune and see if I can get records it will hopefully be easier :)

Thanks!!

Still think that you need to look at this manifest:

Believe this Giuseppe is the brother of Domenico, and hence Vincenzo...and don't discout that this Pasquale is his father.

Only confirmation in the records will confirm.

I have one better :) For whatever reason. Domenico's kids say they were born in Ohio (1920 & 1930 census's) My father cannot figure it out. I mean besides the fact that they WERE born there and then they moved to Pittsburgh (Sharpsburg) but :) Darn if this isn't starting to get a little closer :)

OK So who has the Mendicino commune address :)

Not stupid...don't know how either! Try this link:

http://www.ellisisland.org/search/shipM ... 2249080152

Now, if you look up the name Pasquale Aloise, Cretic, arriving 1906, born 1843 at this site, you get the passenger manifest.

At the Ancestry site, you get a copy of him being held for Special Inquiry.

But to see the manifest, just click on the above and then on the mangnifying glass...you should be able to read it then.

Have a great evening.

I typed up 2 letters for Cerisano using this form :

C:\Users\Staci\Desktop\Letter to Stato Civile - IL CIRCOLO CALABRESE - Devoted to Calabria.mht

I saved it from a posting on here to translate the letter to Italian!

Seeing as how I know more for Vincenzo I will use it for Mendicino and him as well :) The Cerisano letters I tried to use Marie Aloise Santelli and then Pasquale Aloise. So we will see. they will go out in the next few days and then I guess I have weeks to wait (hehe).

Thank you all so much!!
