Ferraro

Post by mc5clash »

Hi Everybody,

I'm trying to gather information on becoming a dual italian citizen. I've emailed NARA and waiting for a response but I ran into this website and everybody seems so helpful that I thought I'd give it a shot. For this I need to know if my grandfather (through my father's side) was born after my great grandfather had become naturalized.

I've tried looking at the census records at ancestry.com but i could not find my great grandfather's name. I'm starting to think he was never naturalized. If you guys could help me in any way or at least point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it. I don't how much of this is useful but here is the information I have so far:

Great Grandfather

Name: Frank Ferraro
DOB: Unknown
Date of Death: Circa 1950
Place of Birth: Naples, Italy (I think)
Resided in the Bronx

Great Grandmother

Name: Marie Ferraro
DOB: Unknown
Date of Death: unknown
Resided in the Bronx

Grandfather

Name: Louis Ferraro
DOB: 08/05/1912
Date of Death: 12/9/98
Resided in NY his whole life until he moved to South Florida in the late 60's

Last address: 2821 Somerset Dr
Fort Lauderdale, Fl 33311

Thanks

Jon

Hi Essgee,

Thank you so much for your reply. Thats my great grandfather!!!!! I didn't even think that there would be an error with last names on the census. Pretty naive on my part. I went to pull up the information on ancestry.com and was able to pull it up. But I couldn't find the naturalization date of 1919. Where did you find that? Also do you or anybody else know what's involved when there is an error in the last name, being that my last name is Ferraro and it is listed as Ferrari on the census. But I am almost certain thats my great grandfather. I showed my father the names of his children and it has his father's name (my grandfather) and his uncles and aunts. There are just too many coincidences for this not to be correct except the last name.

Thank you so much. This is very exciting. :D

Thanks Susan for your help. But I think esgee got the right file. I just can't find the naturalization date of 1919. I am also a little concerned about the error in the name.
