Where does the surname ALEGRIO originate? Is it Italian?

Just curious as to whether "Alegrio" is of Italian ancestry or Spanish ancestry.

It sounds Italian, but I'm just not sure since there aren't that many open records/documents of the ancestral lineage or genelogy of my family name.

Using the surname database it does not appear in Italy:

cognome = surname
click on the red arrow which then brings up a map with distibution of the name.
