Surname Stillo or Stilla from Isca Sullo Ionia

Post by JosephB »

Hi Everyone,

I am so pleased to have found this forum. I am looking for information on my g-grandparents.

My g-grandfather's name: Anthony Stillo (possibly misspelled as Stilla)
g-grandmother name: Barbara Cornitti

Barbara may have died some time between 1898 and 1902. Anthony remarried after Barbara's death. His subsequent wife's name is not known.

Their children:
Vito Stillo b 1895
Anna Stillo b 1889
Elizabetta Stillo Galardi b 1885

The children emigrated to the United States in 1910 (Elizabetta and Vito) and 1913 (Anna).

The children settled in Northumberland County Pennsylvania - Specifically, Marion Heights.

Thanks for any help :D
Best Wishes,
Joe

Thank you so much. The manifest is correct. It appears that he and his sister Elizabetta both came over together (which is opposite family lore) and his sister Anna came over a few years later. Interestingly, neither my mother nor my aunt had ever heard him mention a sister named Filippina. They guessed she was a half sister. Apparently, he never talked about his step mother.

Wow!! Yes, those are his draft cards. You made a couple old ladies very happy on Christmas. They were both thrilled to see them again.

Yes, those are my grandparents and their first two children. The Scicchitano name is familiar - Family friend as I remember. I do not recognize James Lacrvach.
