Corina Brandol in 1912

Post by jeri71 » 06 Jan 2008, 05:42

My great-grandparents were Leonildo and Margherita Brandol. My grandfather Michele was born in 1910 in Giaveno, Torino, Italy. His sister Corina was born in 1912.

In early 1913 Leo traveled to America with his brother-in-law, Massimo Giai Via (or Giavia). His last name is mis-spelled "Brando" on the Ellis Island manifest. Margherita and Michele followed him over in late 1913. Baby Corina was left with an Aunt (possibly a Teresa) in Italy and came over when she was older. The Brandol family was in Helper, UT and a lot of the Giavia family went to California.

I can't find Corina, traveling either as a Brandol or a Giavia and would really like to find out when she got to America. I have a photograph that was taken in 1921 and she was in it, so she arrived sometime before then.

I have found a vague reference to Leo's parents as "Dominico Brandol and Caterina Barella" and Margherita's parents as "Mike Giavia and Rose Pogolitt) but nothing more than that. I'd love to find out more about them as well.
