Picerno/Rousso/Germano/Gamba

Post by drivingalong »

I sort of posted about this line before, but I have learned a few things and this time I'm asking for info on the ancestors, and siblings, not the children. I have all the details on the 4 children.

Looking for info on Francesco Picerno
b: 24 May 1871 in Italy
d: 12 Jun 1950 in San Francisco
His mother's maiden name was ROUSSO or RUSSO

The problem with searching Picerno is I keep getting hits on the city Picerno. I'm not sure what city the Picerno's were from, but I had heard once they were from Genoa... but have no evidence. They migrated to the US from Naples and records list Verbicaro... There is no Picerno on the 1871 film for Verbicaro. Youngest 2 children were born in Italy (1895, Abt 1900)

Francseco married Maria Giuseppa Germano
b: 20 Jun 1873 in Verbicaro
d: 9 Feb 1950 in San Francisco, CA
Her father was Battista Germano
I think her mother was Carolina Gamba, which means she had
at least a brother Alberico, b: 17 Jun 1885 in Verbicaro

They had 4 children: Giuseppe, Pasquale, Rose, and "Lee" Carolyn.

Any clues/ideas for Francesco's and Maria's pedigree?

Thanks,
Jim

Perhaps you could tell us what types of records you have located to
date, this way we can better direct your search.......

So far, records are all from the USA census and immigration records, and from some older family members. Francesco Picerno and Maria Giuseppe Germano immigrated from Naples listing Verbicaro as their last residence. So far in 1871, 1883-1887 microfilms, I have found NO entries for Picerno except as a witness for a birth record for Maria Giuseppe Crestina Germano, b:1885, and her father was Biagio German. Possibly a 1st cousin of Maria Giuseppe Germano... just a guess at this point.

I'll order and search otehr films... I was hoping for clues however on how to find the city where the Picerno family was from... I suspect Verbicaro was just a short stop in route to leave for the USA.
