DiCarlo/DeCarlo

Post by jmd0727 »

hi there.....I am looking for information on my Vincenzo DiCarlo, he came from a town called Sciacca on Sicily. He was born in 1890. I know that he had 2 brothers and a sister. Brothers were Anthony and Charles and sister was Lillian I believe.....but that could be her English name. All the boys came over to the US in the early 1900. Vincenzo I believe he left Sciacca on a boat called Italia in 1906 and came to Norristown Pa USA on 10/20/1906 to stay with family. I know that his fathers name was also Vincenzo DiCarlo B 1855 D 1826 and his mothers name was Accussia DiCarlo B 1854 D 1926...but maiden name is Casanova. Is anyone related to them.....I believe Vincenzo was sponcered by a Mario Diliberto. Vincenzo also married a girl from Sciacca Gregoria Raso....but she came to the US in 1905 and they married over in the Us....any info would be great.....my email is jmd0727@dejazzd.com

Hi and welcome t the forum,

What kind of info are you looking for? Do you have ship's manifests and census records? Are you trying to trace American family or just family in Italy? The more info you can give us about your research goals, the better we can help.

Hi,

Interesting..I have family from Sciacca that moved to Norristown also but they are all Cicala ... and non of them married with DiCarlo... but if I stuble into those names in the microfilm I'll let you know.

The name Lillian most likely is Calogera. (my grandmother had those names).

thank for that info....on Vincenzo ship manifest it said that he was going to live with a brother in law....and it had the name that looked like that Calogera. I havent been able to find any info on his sister. All I know is that she married a Cottone....spelling could be different.

I am looking for information on Vincenzo parents/grandparents or maybe sibilings that never made it to the US

Ellis Island has Calogera's husband listed as Dionisio Cottone, but their daughter, Accursia (?), listed as Bottone.
