Need help on Petti Family in Salerno

I'm doing research on my mother's father's family and my Great-Grandfather was from Salerno, Italy. His name is Andrew Petti. I have no idea on how continue tracing his family back because most of his papers that were in Ellis Island were lost when Ellis Island burned. I would like to know if someone could point me in the right direction to go. I'm not even sure what Church he belonged to. Any help and information would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I believe that's my great-grandpa. He sailed over on the ship "Trinacria" from Naples and he arrived in Ellis Island on July 30, 1892. He married Filomena Rossi, my great-grandmother, in 1894 and they were married in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Newark, New Jersey. Later in 1919, they moved to Long Branch, New Jersey. My great-grandfather, Andrew/Andrea Petti died in 1958 and is buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, New Jersey.

This is such a coincidence. I am going through the baptism, marriage and death records for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church right now.

I also live in the town next to Long Branch. The Long Branch library has lots of historical records and the Family History Center I use has many Monmouth County records.
The Italian church in Long Branch is Holy Trinity and is still in existence

If you give me some idea of the information you are looking for, I will be happy to check some records for you.
