There are 275 out of 321 persons suranmed Bettarini in Toscana region. Almost 200 are in the province of Florence but you have to know the town of origin in that province provided the betteraini name is ocorrect. Go to ww.paginebianche.it and insert Bettarini the first line and FI in the third line and click cerca. A list of the towns that hasve all the Betterini surnamed people living in them. Peter

the listing I gave you is for people currently residing in the province. There is no listing without background information such as town of origin. If you can find the port of entry into the USA by going thru www.Nara.gov/genalogy and request form 81 and see if they can come yuup with an entry record for your ancestor. Peter

Did the marriage certificate give you his year of birth or age when he got married?? You can calculate his year of birth from that. There are only three male Betrano is the ellis island site and if you click on the ships manifest and look to where they were destined that might give you a clue..Perhaps they were destined to someone you rec ognize by name or address. Perhaps Louis was merely adopted by him asnd he was one of the three> DIG GLORIA!!!. Peter

One thing I found when I was searching Ellis island for my Grandfather is they sometimes have the middle name instead of the first name. :-D

I submitted to the RR Retirement Board about my grandfather and received a wealth of information. Besides pertinent information, they had pay records, death certificate (that saved me money) and information on my grandmother. The $21 was well worth it! Joann
