Newspapers in Ruoti, Italy

As a nation state, Italy has emerged only in 1871. Until then the country was politically divided into a large number of independant cities, provinces and islands. The currently available evidences point out to a dominant Etruscan, Greek and Roman cultural influence on today's Italians.

Post by mariemaye »

Would the town of Ruoti have had newspapers, obituaries, etc.published in the 1800's? How were births, marriages, and deaths recorded?
Thanks,

When a person died (especially back then) they were buried in 24 hours by law. No time for obituaries. The notice of death was posted on walls and boards all over town within hours. If the person was noble or of some importance in the town there MAY be some kind of story in whatever newspaper covered that are. Usually not.
