Having problems with the Italian language? Do you need help to translate or understand an old family document? There is always someone who can help you!
On what appears to be a church document that was included with marriage prossessetti on a film from Campobasso, an ancestor of mine was referred to as " Signore Parroca Don Serafino di Giuseppe Maglieri". At the end of document he signed his name " L'Parroca Serafino Maglieri". Could someone tell me if he was a priest, although I did not see the word prete anywhere. This was from 1822.
Thank you very much for any help.

Hello, Donna.
Yes, the mentioned person was a priest. You can guess it by the word "parroco" (the final "a" is probably a mispelling) which means "parish priest".
So, don Serafino Maglieri, son of Giuseppe Maglieri, was the parish priest of the parish church mentioned in your document.
Hope this helps.
Ciao, Maurizio
Dear Maurizio,
Thank you so much for the translation. The last letter in parroco was blurred, so thanks for clearing that up, too. You have been so helpful.
Ciao,
Donna
