Grand nephew/niece = (il)pronipote/(la) pronipote

Great grand nephew/niece = (il)pro-pronipote/(la)pro-pronipote

Grand Uncle/Aunt = prozio/prozia

Great Grand Uncle/Aunt = pro-prozio/pro-prozia

GG Grand Uncle/Aunt = pro-pro-prozio/pro-pro-prozia

Second Cousin = Cugino/cugina in secondo

Third Cousin = cugino/cugina in terzo

Hi Suanj,

Thanks for the translations. This helps a lot.

One final question: In the diagram below, if

A & B are husband & wife, then
C & D are brothers, and
G & H are first cousins.

G & K are first cousins once removed (in English);
what would this relationship be in Italian?

Code: Select all

             A --- B
                |
                |
            ---------
            | |
            | |
      E --- C D --- F
         | |
         | |
   L --- G H --- I
      | |
      | |
      M K

Thanks again,
T. Bottegal

Hi: in Italy grandsons in descendent line are: nipote, pronipote, pro-pronipote etc; grandsons in collateral line (G &K) are: nipote in seconda, nipote in terza..
