Church Record Translation for Biaggio Napoli & Maria Tor

Post by jpetrelli »

I was hoping someone on the forum would be kind enough to help translate this Church Wedding document for my 4th great grandparents, Biaggio Napoli and Maria Torretta.

If it is possible, I would like to be able to include a literal translation for my records.

Thank you greatly for your assistance.

Joe

I can see that his parents were Francesco Napoli and Francesca Piazza and her parents were Bernardo Torretta and Antonina Caronna. The image doesn't enlarge and is difficult to read.

I see that there is a witness on the document named Don Antonio Marino. A second witness may be Maestro ? Epifanio (can't make out his first name).

I think there is mention of the three banns of marriage on the 3rd, 10th, and 17th of July 1831 (this is near the beginning of the record).

I think that the fathers of both the groom and the bride were deceased at the time of the marriage.

It looks like they were married by a priest named Don Salvatore la Voi. He was a sacred chaplain.

Sorry I can't do a literal translation. I can't read all of the words-only some of them, as above.

I believe there is the usual exchange of the vows-I see that the groom was interrogated-(that is, asked if he would take Maria to be his wife, etc).

The marriage took place during the blessed celebration of the Mass, as far as I can tell.

That's all I can read, sorry.

Maestra36, thank you for your efforts to translate. I appreciate it.

The small magnifying glass towards the top right corner of the image allows you to zoom in closer on the image.

I have also cropped, zoomed and reposted the image here.

Let me know if this second image helps clarify any additional details.

Thank you again for your assistance.

The new image is so much clearer. It looks like He was a widower at the time of this marriage. Francesca Piazza was his first wife and not his mother.
