Attained by www.freetranslation.com:

Coffee Table = tavolino da caffè

Candle = candela

Movies (dvd's) = unsure.... :) il film is the translation of "movie", but I don't know if it's in the right context.

Picture Frame = dipingere la cornice

Sewing Machine = maching cucendo

Dishwasher = lavastoviglie
A balance of caution and risk is necessary for a true life. Too much of one can lead to a long, dull existence - too much of the other can lead to a short pointless existence. Moderation in all things - a full and fully-experienced life. :)

I'm wary of that site.. it's given me weird answers before. I had those all with question marks next to them.. I hate being unsure of something and learning it wrong. I guess thats what I have my teacher for then eh? Thanks Auburn, I'll probably just bring them to my teacher for verification..

I don't like machine translations. If you can't find these words in your dictionary, try this site: http://www.garzantilinguistica.it/
It requires that you register but it is free and very easy. Use the Hazon dictionary for English-Italian and vice versa. There is also a section dedicated to verb conjugations and synonyms and antonyms. Very useful site for the times when you're using the web and don’t have your Italian dictionary handy.

candle - candela

movie - pellicola - pel-LEE-ko-la

movies - cinema - CHEE-neh-ma

dishwasher - lavastoviglie, lavapiatti

took these from a dictionary. so the translation seems to be correct from above. wasn't able to locate other words.

(I'm putting notes on everything, then the whole family is testing each other on what everything is called in Italian!)

Hi.
I just like to make you sure that the most correct translation for "movie" is "Film" ("Shooting a movie"= "Girare un film"; "Watching a movie"="Guardare un film").
And for "sewing machine" (meaning not the action of sewing with a machine, but the physical object shown in the link Suanj posted), the correct definition is "Macchina da cucire".
Ciao, Maurizio
