i am having difficulty figuring out Luigi's profession and his father's first name (maybe Generoso or Gennaro antonio?). any help is greatly appreciated.

I agree you with that the father's occupation was notaio or a notary. I can't decipher Luigi's occupation though nor his father's first name

i figured that it was a long shot trying to decipher his occupation s the handwriting is difficult. although i would tend to agree with marty's thinking that it is Beniamino.

Could it be "canonico"? (It wouldn't fit if he was a direct ancestor :mrgreen: )

the record is from the then-named town ariano di pulgia. luigi is the brother-in-law of an ancestor, so it is possible he was a priest.
