Pasquale Sansone Birth Record Assistance

Post by kaygee »

Hello all,

I have attached the birth record I have just received for my 2nd GGF, Pasquale Sansone. I'm having a bit of a hard time with the handwriting, which makes translating a bit difficult. Any help is appreciated!

Also, his mother's name is on his birth record as Lucia Garofalo and on his passport as Luisa Garofano (see here: http://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/l ... 6?p=224150). I'm assuming I should look at the birth record as authoritative, correct?

Thank you in advance!

Thank you. That confirms what I thought. I read the name as "Sanzone" instead of "Sansone" too, but I know that an "s" can resemble a "z" at times so I wasn't sure.

Was this kind of variation in spelling of surnames common in this era?
