details of father's name

Post by kencwalker »

I could use a little helping reading the father's details in this birth record:
Record #43 for Luigi Pilatti - Link to Family Search record:
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1 ... cat=985332

The line in question:
è comparso il Signor Pilatti Battista fu Cristoforo di Set (?) d' anni quarantacinque
The father is Battisa Pilatti (age 45), son of the deceased Cristoforo.
What does the term "di Set" mean?
Thanks,
-Ken

I think it's not "di Set", but "d(ett)o Set", in the sense that in town he went by the name of Set (a sort of nick).

Hi Pippo,
Thanks for the suggestion.
So, "d(ett)o Set" applies to Cristoforo Pilatti (the GF), right?

We can't be sure, as it can be ambiguous, but I think it's applied to Battista.
