Marriage of Carlo Moriallino & Elisabetta

Post by sacesta »

Here's another one where the index entry is so clear and the record so illegible.

Can anyone even begin to guess which record might be the marriage record of Carlo & Elisabetta?

Here's the record-middle left. In this instance, the priest numbered the front and back of the pages with the same number. It is the next image from the one you posted on the left side of the page.

I have to get to an aerobics class now, so I can't do the translation now. Will try later, if no one else does it in the meantime

Thanks for finding this Erudita. I'm going to have to take a look at it a little later. My eyes are tired.

I'm afraid I am going to need help with this one. It's a difficult read and very, very faded.

I can see that the marriage took place in the year 1658, what looks to be February, but I cannot discern the date. The record before is dated 15 Jan 1658 and the record after 17 Feb 1658, so it's sometime before February 18th.

I can make out the date of one wedding bann (20 Jan), but not the others. It appears there were no impediments.

I see what could be Elisabetta's given name but I cannot make out any other names in the document. This one is very difficult and I appreciate any help you can give me.

Steve
First of all, I believe Carlo's surname is Morsellino and not what you have. Elisabetta's surname looks like di Amico or de Amico to me. The record is dated Feb 4th. The dates of the banns are difficult to read-there were three, but I can only read Jan 6 and Jan 20th. Carlo was the son of deceased Vito. The mother was Vita and she was alive. Elisabetta's father was Antonino. I can't read the mother's name, but I believe she is the one who was deceased, as it states they were formerly spouses of this parish and there is nothing in front of Antonio's name to indicate that he was deceased. I'm having trouble with the names of the witnesses. The first name of the second witness is Michael.

That's all I can do with this record at the moment. Possibly someone else can read more of it.

Yes, I see Morsellino on Avitrees.com as a name associated with Calatafimi. Thanks again Erudita!

Hi Steve
You're very welcome. The avitree website is not foolproof but can be helpful.
