Marriage Record word help??

Post by Ksinibaldi »

I'm confused by the phrase directly after both the Father of the groom's name Antonio Lopa & Mother of the Bride Anastasia Simone. I'm guessing this has something to do with giving consent since their respective spouses are deceased?

Scratching my head thanks for any guidance.

After the groom's father-"che lo assiste". I believe after the bride's mother is just the word for assistant. The living father of the groom, and the living mother of the bride, assisted with the couple's request to proceed with the celebration of their marriage and, to this end, that their marriage publications be made. Part of their assistance was giving consent, but this is not specifically spelled out in this record.
