November 29, 1888 at city hall in Caiazzo appeared Francesco Giannelli, age 26, butcher, domiciled in Caiazzo, who declared that on November 26, 1888 at 8 AM, in his home at #9 Via San Felice, a baby girl was born to his wife Mirabelli Filameno, seamstress. The child was given the name of Camilla.

Thank you so much! Yes! November 26, 1888 is her birthday and she was born in Caiazzo. How can I find out more about her and her grandparents?

Looks like they came to the US on October 3, 1898 at New York aboard the SS California. Mirabella, age 38, Camilla age 9, Vincenzo age 8, Maria age 6, all from Caiazzo. They indicate that they are going to joing Mirabella's husband, Francesco, in Bridgeport, CT.

They should appear in birth, marriage, and death records in Caiazzo, Provincia di Caserta. Unfortunately, I don't think much is onlne. You can view the microfilm at a family history center. There are quite a few available. See the link below.

Just to clarify: The mother's name is Filomena Mirabelli. Mirabelli is the surname.

Glad you agree. A little clue, if you are not sure, (as sometimes given names can be surnames as well), is to take a look at the rest of the record and see how the other names are written. In this case you'll note that the surname is written first and then the given name e.g. Giannelli Francesco.

Great to have you on board. You did a great job of all those translations yesterday for Crystal. Well done.

Angela :)

Yes! You have found my Grandmother! Although we know her as Amelia or Emilia, her real name is Camilla, no wonder I could not find anything. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you so very much!

Filameno Mirabelli's father is Giuseppe Mirabella who died April 1915 and owned a farm in Caserta. How can I find out more about him and his family? James H. J. Nell is Camilla's brother.

I don't see his death in online records for Caserta or Caiazzo in 1915. You might try birth records in Caiazzo, but for those you'll have to go look at them at a Family History Center. At the link below you can see which are available online, which are digital that can be viewed in Family History Centers and which are microfilm that can be viewed there. Do you know if he died in the town of Caserta or the province of Caserta? Caiazzo is a town within the province of Caserta, but Caserta is also a town in the province with its own records.

Unfortunately I do not know anything else about Giuseppe - just what is in this newspaper article. I will search Caiazzo since that is where his daughter Filamena lived.
