Birth No 173: Lucia Spoto

Valledolmo: 11 October 1866

Before the official appeared Cassandro Spoto, 43 yo, Caffettiere, living in Valledolmo who presented a baby girl who he reported was born today, at 3 pm from his wife Carmela Taglianno, 33 yo, living with him. The baby was given the name Lucia.

Caffettiere – briefly, a person who sells coffee
The following thread is interesting re the occupation Caffettiere, in case you are interested: https://www.italiangenealogy.com/forum/ ... re#p207358

Ray, if you are wanting to post the other records I located yesterday, don't worry about posting an image. They are not so clear. Just click on the link to the image that I provided. Then click on the address bar, then right click. A message box will come up, scroll down, and right click on "copy". Then paste the link here like so:

Here is my interpretation of what the marriage record is saying. It's a bit of a tricky one. Maybe another kind soul can take a look as well.

Marriage No 7: Vincenzo Bonasera and Lucia Spoto

Vallelunga Pratameno: 21 December 1887

(I'm understanding that the marriage took place at the house in which la "Signorina" Lucia Spoto lived, in this town (Vallelunga Pratameno), in via Garibaldi, because she was unwell at the time of the marriage, and so was unable to attend the town hall to celebrate her marriage. So the official appeared at her home.)

There, was found:

Groom: Signore Vincenzo Bonasera, celibe (never married) 23 yo, Sarto (tailor), born and residing in Vallelunga, son of Giovanni (Bonasera) and of Ottaria Viscuso, who both resided in Vallelunga.

Bride: Signora Lucia Spoto, nubile (never married), 21 yo, civile (landowner), born and residing in Vallelunga (this is incorrect, as per her birth record, she was born in Valedolmo), daughter of the deceased Cassandro and of the deceased Carmela Taglierini? (the birth record says Taglianno), who had both resided in Vallelunga.

They requested to be united in marriage, etc.

The rest of the record looks pretty mandatory. Maybe someone else can just check in case I'm missing something important. It mentions the publications, attachments presented etc. The other people mentioned there are just the witnesses.

I believe the clerk has made an error in Lucia's mother's surname. He has written the surname of one of the witnesses instead.

I've just had another look at the record, and I think the mother's name might actually be Tagliarino and not Taglianno.
