Birth No 67: Rocco Nicola Padula

Registered in the town of Spinoso on 18 December 1887 at 11.20 am

Appearing in the town of Spinoso, before the official, was Nicola Padula, 48 yo, contadino (peasant), living in Spinoso, who reported that at 7.30 pm on 17 of the current month (so baby born 17 December 1887), in the house in Vico 3* Garibaldi, no number given, from Teresa Mileo, his wife, a contadina, living with him, was born a baby boy who he presened and gave the name Rocco Nicola.

The other names listed there are just the names of the people who witnessed the registration proceedings. It says that all signed the document except for the declarant (Nicola Padula) who was illiterate.

These Spinoso records should be online. Spinoso was one of the first towns in the province of Potenza to be digitised and placed on line. I'll take a look for you to see if I can find the record and post it here for you as it will probably be a better copy than this one. There's just something I want to check for myself as well re the record.

Just following on from my previous post.

Here is the link to the online Birth Record at Family Search: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1947686

You can continue your search here BMD's 1866-1910: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903 ... cc=1947686

Records from circa 1809-1865 for the Province of Potenza here (Scroll down to Spinoso): http://dl.antenati.san.beniculturali.it ... i+Potenza/

These same records 1809-1865 are currently only available at either a Family History Centre or Family Search Affiliate Library. This gives you a good idea of what is available: https://www.familysearch.org/search/ima ... %3D2450876

If you have access to Ancestry, you may also be able to access death records post 1910 and up to approximately 1838 for Spinoso.
