Birth act amendment help

Post by Biff83 »

On this record from 1900, the previous birth of Giuseppa Callipari, born in 1884 #18, is being amendng to show the mother as Maria Napoli and not Antonia Staltari. Since Giuseppa's father Bruno is now deceased, I don't see who made this claim. Can someone clarify.

Thanks in advance,
Biff

It's a court order of correction and doesn't say who initiated it. However this is in the records in Gerace and it looks like the birth occurred in Careri. The local official states that the order recognizes that Maria Napoli was the mother and not Antonia Staltari, and the he had erroneously read the atto di nascita in the register of Careri back in 1884.

Sounds like the Gerace records were not the normal reporting of the birth by the father, but a transcription of a birth that occurred elsewhere, and there was a clerical error in recording, now being fixed. No way to tell who noticed and requested the correction.
