Hi all,
Is it possible that marriage banns may be announced and recorded in one church, but the marriage occurred in a different church? Or do the banns and the marriage always occur in the same church? I ask because I have found the marriage bann for one of my ancestors, from the 1600s, in which both bride and groom were from a neighboring town, not the town where the church was. I cannot find the actual marriage record from the same church announcing the banns. The records seem pretty complete, so I don't think it's a missing record. Always a possibility that the marriage did not occur, but they did go on to have a family so I assume it did. Thanks for any thoughts.
