I think the date is December 25, 1650
second down on the right
Death of Leonardo, son of living Pietro and deceased Melchiora Cosentino, ats Sapia (what does this mean???) of Monreale, age (I can't read, looks like 30, 50, 60, or 80. 80 can't be right, though because his father is still alive)
Please help with the death of Leonardo Cosentino

Thank you Livio and darkerhorse, what does "ats Sapia" mean, though?

Re: Please help with the death of Leonardo Cosentino
If your reading is correct, that it's "ats sapia" then "ats" could be an abbreviation for "aetas" which is Latin having to do with age, generation or time period. "Sapia" sounds related to "sapere" meaning to know or to name. But, that's unexpected -
ages known - I would have expected ages unknown, so I'm stumped.
If "Sapia" is capitalized, could it refer to a place?

Sapia is a surname, so my understanding from what I have read here on the forum is that "ats" means "alias" or "also known as" ie "also known as Sapia".

Thank you Angela and darkerhorse! I think Sapia was originally a Jewish surname, so maybe it was changed to Cosentino to avoid persecution?

I've never heard that about Sapia, but I've been told Zimmer was often changed to Zimmitti in Sicily.
