269th Battaglione di Milizia Territoriale

Post by nrepole »

Hi everyone
I have a relative's WW1 record which states that he joined the
269th Battaglione di Milizia Territoriale in May 1914 and served
there in WW1. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything
about this unit?? Was it attached to a regiment/brigade? Location
in WW1?

P.S. For some reason at the moment, I cannot attach images to these forums ???

Hi Nick. Attachments are not working.
It's better to put a link.
I gave a look to Wikipedia (perhaps there is something about this also in the English edition).
The summary is this. The initial, ordinary army had 98 reggimenti of fanteria) (Wikipedia say reggimenti, not battaglioni). Due to the new needs during the war, there have been added others with soldiers who had left service in the last three years and called back in service (n. 99 to 164 : Milizia Mobile) and later others again with older soldiers (n. 201 to 282 : Milizia Territoriale). The 269 was made in 1917.
