Carini marriage

Post by cj11788 »

Hello,

The link and attached is the 1566 Carini marriage for Pietro Simonetta to Agata Cucinella. Couple of questions.

1 - What is between Pietro and Simonetta. It looks like Longo. The same is between Agata and Cucinella so I don't believe it's a name.

2 - What is your guess on Agata's fathers name. To me it looks like Giovanni Antonio.

Thoughts.

Thanks

Chris

My thought:
I'd say the word after "longo", that can be clearly read, might be "seu" or "seo" (the first letter is like the one in "si", on the first line). If that's true, it would mean that Pietro's family name was Longo, but they were also called "Di Simunetta". "Longo seo" is repeated after Agata's name, but it is followed by her surname after marriage, so it has the same meaning (about Pietro's family). So, there might have been a change of surname.
I read her father's name like you do: "Jo: Ant(o)ni"
Giuseppe "Pippo" Moccaldi
