Dear Mr. Laratta

My name is James Klos and I am a descendant of Giuseppe Guarascio. My Great Grandfather was born in San Giovanni in Fiore, Calabria on May 23, 1904. His parents are Tommaso Guarascio and Anna Maria Secreti. They also had a son named Salvatore Guarascio that was born in 1901. My Ancestors came to America in 1913. The attached document is my Great Grandfathers birth certificate from San Giovanni in Fiore. I found your postal address on the http://www.emigrati.it/ website online. I am gladly and willing to pay for all of the research that you can help me out with. The following is some of the documents that I am trying to get a hold of…….

Giuseppe Guarascio’s baptismal record

Tommaso Guarascio’s birth record. He was born 10 April 1873.

Anna Maria Secreti’s birth record. I believe she was born in 1880.

The stato di famiglia originario certificate for my Guarascio family.

Marriage record for Tommaso Guarascio and Anna Maria Secreti. Marriage date is not known.

This information is needed for a family tree I am trying to put together for my family. I am currently going through the process of obtaining Italian Dual Citizenship. Sometime in the near future I am planning a trip to visit San Giovanni in Fiore. I have sent off about ten letters to various households that held the last name Guarascio in San Giovanni in Fiore hoping to find some family that remained in Italy that are related to my Great Grandfather.

I know I am asking a lot but I am willing to pay for the research. If you have access to the internet, you may contact me at jjk_16_21@hotmail.com or via postal mail. Please let me know the cost for what you can research. Thank you for your time and God Bless!

Sincerely,
James Klos

Hi,

Can't translate the letter, but I'm sure someone will, but do you know that you can get these records from the LDS Church (Mormons) films of the civil registries (birth, marriage & death acts) of San Giovanni in Fiore?

Here are the available films.

1810-1910

A handy Italian-English genealogical word list.

Let us know which way you go.....If you trace the family yourself, we are here to help with any questions you may have and/or with translations of the documents.

Yea but the thing is. He is willing to also retrace your family backwards and find other family members that are linked. He is only doing it for Italians that lived in San Giovanni in Fiore and emmigrated to other countries. I actually just ordered a copy of the births microfilms yesterday.

http://www.emigrati.it/Inglese/Research.asp on this link you will see that there is a link for people who are researching for geneology information on their families that left San Giovanni in fiore.

Well, I just wanted to tell you about the films......you can also find & connect other family members through these films & by doing the research yourself, you know that you're getting the correct information.......but it is up to you.

Good luck in your research.

translation:

Gent.mo Sig. Laratta
I suoi genitori erano Tommaso Guarascio e Anna Maria Secreti.

Grazie in anticipo.

Cordiali saluti
James Klos
