Laurino

Post by dposit »

Trying to locate information on my grandmother. Her name was Angela Gregorio and she was born in Laurino around 1879. She immigrated to USA around 1904 and dies around 1924. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

The first thing to do is to try to locate her death record, as it may have her parents' names on it. Where in the U.S. did your grandmother settle and do you know where Angela died? Is Gregorio her maiden or married name? Women in the U.S. are in the death records under their married name. In Italy, they are under their maiden names.

There are four rolls of microfilmed records for the town available for rental through a local family history center run by the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints.

Registri dello stato civile di Laurino (Salerno), 1866-1929
Laurino (Salerno). Ufficio dello stato civile

You may view the film numbers by searching the town in the library catalog at www.familysearch.org On that website, you will also find a list of local family history centers.

Her married name is Durante. She died in Chicago; not sure of exact date, but I think it was Jan. 30,1925.
So far I have been unable to find her death record.
Thanks for your help, I will check out the references.

I have the following Surnames in my tree, and have a pretty good written tree with names, not dates of births of my ancestors. They include Pacente, Gregorios, Monaco, Grazia, Schavio. Arcaro. Amongst a few others. All are from Laurino.

The Pacente/ Pacenti mostly immigrated to North Chicago Illinois. There were 2 that went to South america

Please feel free to contact me.
