My Grandfather was raised in an orphange in Chieti, Abruzzo in the late 1880's/early 1900's. I have not been successful in locating such an institution. Is there a source(s) for me to find information?

Re: Chieti, abruzzo orphanage
I was adopted from that orphanage back in 1961. I know that the orphanage has been closed since 1991, when I tried to locate it while stationed in Italy. This was the address back in 1959; IPAI, Via Nicolini 14, Chieti. Hope this helps and good luck.bookwoman wrote:My Grandfather was raised in an orphange in Chieti, Abruzzo in the late 1880's/early 1900's. I have not been successful in locating such an institution. Thank you for your help. I plan to visit Chieti in May. Perhaps local city hall will have some information?

Re: Chieti, abruzzo orphanage
Was there more then one orphanage in Chieti, Italy? I am trying to help a friend. He was in an orphanage in Chieti in the 1960's. He was told that in either 1968 or 1969 the orphanage burned down. He doesnt know the name of the orphanage. Was wondering if anyone could help. Thanks in advance.

Re: Chieti, abruzzo orphanage
At that time in Chieti there was another orphanage, its name was St.Luigi Gonzaga institute, based in Corso Marrucino, the main street of Chieti old centre. You may try and see if this name sounds familiar to your friend. Let me know if you need more information.
