Castel Di Sangro

Post by ediez214 »

I recently found out where my great grandparents where married But I cant find any information about the church online. The church was in Castel Di Sangro in 1901 when they were married. The name of the church was Church of Mothers. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this church.
Thanks

Edie,

This page lists the churches ("Chiese") in Castel di Sangro: http://www.casteldisangro.net/chiese.html

For a rough Google translation, click http://translate.googleusercontent.com/ ... 8pJn1XM76A

Perhaps you should also consider the Chiesa della Madonna delle Grazie or the Chiesa della Madonna dell'Eremita, both of which refer to the Holy Mother in their names.

You can write to any of these using the church name and the following address:

Chiesa della Madonna delle Grazie
67031 Castel Di Sangro AQ
ITALY

just as it is written above.

I have to say, in all honesty, contacting churches in Italy has not been high on my list of things to do. We have a member here, Ann Tatangelo ("Italysearcher") who resides in Italy and has done significant work with church records - you may wish to seek her advice:

The "Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta" in Castel di Sangro is known also with the nickname of "chiesa madre" (mother church) because is the most important church in town.

Italian wikipedia has a page on the church.

My grandparents, Emil Milano and Lisette Bernardinelli were married in this church in 1922 or 1923.
