Valle di Cadore nearing completion

Post by trevisan2 » 13 Jan 2006, 19:12

Valle di Cadore (BL) parish records extractions are being finalized in a month or so. To include death records to 1970 back to the 1550's. Also including birth & marriage at to the 1930's
There are also a collection of research done on some of the Valle families back to the 1300's by a priest in 1919 in the area.

Of the earlier records, a careful annalizis was done on some of the generic surnames such as Da Val ( dal Valle) that later evolved into other surnames. The Detto names also had to be looked at carefully. For instance, there are about 15 different ( Chiamulera) *DETTO families at any one time.
As usual, the parish had a few gaps in the records. These gaps can be worked through, with other records in most cases.
Once everything is correct, it will be posted on the internet.

Over 1,300 research hours went into this project. In late 2006 another parish in the area is going to be extracted as well. I wanted to start with Valle, to see where most of the immigration would be coming from and then proceed to those other areas.

* DETTO or Do: refers to a nickname or known as name given to the family surnames or to be able to Identify between all of the families with the same surnames.
Researching in the provincia di Treviso, Italy, Provaglio Sopra, Val Sabbia of Brescia.
