Village of Geraci Siculo in Sicily

Post by RichieFlip73 »

My father's side of the family is from Geraci Siculo in Sicily. I've been able to find Ellis Island info as well as birth certificates and marriage and death certificates but is there any way to find out more info about GS itself? I'd love to try and see what streets they lived on and if their house(s) might still be standing etc.

Any ideas on where to start or if it's even possible?

Thanks,
Rich

It's a beautiful little town. I spent some time there a couple of years ago. Here is an aerial view with the street names. You can zoom in on the specific street location and see the street view, with a view of each building as you walk along the street. If the building is still there, you can probably see it.

I remember that my teacher at the elementary school was a Domenica Filippone, from Geraci Siculo. She had a sister Maria. They were both unmarried, and lived in Palermo.

I love the colored bell tower steeple there. From a distance it almost looks like large colored beads.
