Town names- Surania and Ronhleo
I have a 1902 NYC marriage license for Palmira Bellingeri and Luigi Musa. Palmira and Luigi were first married in Italy and then remarried in NYC. The names of their birthplaces are handwritten and appear to be Surania and Ronhleo. I think Surania is a mispelling of Soragna, but I can't figure out Ronhleo. Any ideas? Thank you in advance. Pam

Can you post an image of the license?

I agree with suanj about Roncole Verdi which was formerly called Le Roncole. It's the birthplace of Giuseppe Verdi

Today is the American holiday Thanksgiving, and today I am grateful for helpful people. Thank you Suanj, the information that you provided is exactly right. I don't know how you did it! I would have never found the record of Palmira and Luigi 's marriage without you. That record also gave me Palmira's exact date of birth and the correct spelling of her mother's name.
Thank you to erudita74 and PippoM for taking time to respond.
Sincerely,
Pam

Hello. The original poster, Pam, is my cousin.
I’m wondering if you might also find a baptismal record for my grandmother, Maria, who was Luigi’s sister?
She was born circa 1888.
Thank you all so very much for all of the help.

#181 Baptism for Luigi Musa. I do not understand the child's name, it does not look like it says Luigi. The parents are correct Guglielmo Musa and Giussepa Tezza.
Do you know which church this record is from?
Many thanks,
Pam

Re: Town names- Surania and Ronhleo
Thank you, Mongo
It all seems to work except for the birth date. My grandmother, Maria Musa, could not have been born that early. My grandmother, Maria, known as Mamie in the States continues to elude me. She died in 1952 in Mt. Vernon, NY. A few years before I had been born.
Perhaps this was the first Maria born whom may have subsequently died, and my grandmother born nearly ten years later was named after her deceased sister? I have known that to occur on my mother’s side from Napoli.

Re: Town names- Surania and Ronhleo
This is curious. When my daughter was born thirty years ago it was certain that her first name would be Maria. That is a family tradition. But what of the second name of which so many of our Marias are cakkec

Re: Town names- Surania and Ronhleo
Sorry my finger slipped. So many of our Marias in the family are called by their middle names as we have so many Marias. When my daughter was born thirty years ago I had
suggested naming her Maria Valentina. She was not born near St. Valentine’s Day and I had no idea that the name Valentina had ever been present in the family. I just liked the sound of it.
Coincidence? Who knows?

Re: Town names- Surania and Ronhleo
I searched the baptism records until 1897, but I couldn't find any more Marias Musa.
