Nursery rhyme in Italian

Post by joyesler »

When I was little, my grandmother who was from Calabria would sing me a nursery rhyme in Italian. I do not know the translation and I'm sure the Italian words have been skewed from my childhood memory. Yet I would love to find out the correct Italian words to this nursery rhyme. The nursery rhyme story that my grandmother told me was that a cat was married. It's starts with miao, miao, and ends with miao, miao, miao. And during the miao my grandmother would take my hands into hers and pet my face like a cat.

Thank you for sharing this link. Unfortunately, it appears that the nursery rhyme my grandmother sang to me is not included. Yet once I track it down I will share it with the Mama Lisa website.

I was able to find this nursery rhyme that is very close. Some of the words are a little different which could have been from different dialects and accenting of the words. Is anyone familiar with this nursery rhyme? With the Italian? And / or the exact English translation? The link provides the basic story in English yet is unable to provide any information on the Italian.
