Shoreman (???)

Post by luclor97 » 30 Jul 2014, 23:38

Have any of you can tell me what it meant to this profession?
I think it's a word obsoleted, which is no longer used in the U.S. ..

Thank you

Shoreman might be a longshoreman or dock worker who loads and unloads ships.
Occupation is "wrapper". Industry is "drugs"

Here is a page from the Classified Index of Occupations for the 15th US Census listing with the job "wrapper" - in the Chemical manufacturing industry.

All of the jobs that are under 'longshoremanstevedore" begin on page 154 of the index above.
