I went to the Italian consulate of Chicago on April 10th to renew my Italian passport because i am going to italy to visit my mother. According to them i was never registered on A.E.R.I. which wasn't true because i had renewed my passport in the passed but that was 17 years ago. The problem is that the address is now different therefore they refused to renew my passport until i registered for A.E.R.I. When i completed the form they told me to come back in 3-4 month. I told them it was impossible because it is urgent that i go to Italy because my mother is not well and that i need to go see her. My first avaible appointment I was able to get to go back to the consulate is May 11th. How can I check if the registration for this A.I.R.E has been completed. I don't want to go to my appointment the 2nd time to renew my passport to find out that they still have not registered me. I don't have much time left as I leave for Italy the first week of June.
