Soccer - & Celebrations!
Soccer - & Celebrations!
Hi All,
In Toronto.... WoooHoooo!!
you gotta believe!!
Italy 2 - Germany 0
I can't tell you what kind of a soccer party we are going to have here in Toronto...
I was just finishing up a voice message to a soccer fan in England... & during that message.. Italy scores their first in overtime....
Then shortly... the second goal...
My son just called from St. Clair Ave. West - from a sports bar... and all I could hear was lots whistles and lots of happy noises...
Nuccia what's happening there??
I would love to hear about the soccer celebrations elsewhere...
Forza Italia!!
Maria

Maria,
here in Trento, Italy is over midnight and all people living in this town are going around by car, with Italian flags, celebrating all night long, in the middle of the streets, crowded of people and cars, wistling and scriming for happines
forza Italia
bye Riccardo

I was in Rome when the Azzurri beat the Czechs and it was exciting to see the Italian fans circling the Coliseum in their cars and on their bikes waving the tricolor. I wish I could have seen it again today – and one more time next Sunday!

Hi Everyone,
I'm sorry but I'm still recovering from last night, too. I was on St. Clair and I did take some pictures. I wanted to post them but I've been helping a couple of people with their research and I got sooo into it.
I'm sooo happy Portugual lost today. Last night was awesome...Maria, I was hoping you would call..try to come Sunday if they win. The police were amazing and generally no trouble on ST. Clair. When the people got to be too many, the people themselves shut down the street....
I came home early because I had to be at work early but I sent Lou back up to but me a T-shirt I fell in love with which reads "Italians do it Better"..Jen got one too.
At some point around 1 am the police finally blocked the streets with their horses and bikes and trucks, cars, etc and asked people to go home...
They've posted a sin which reads that St. Clair will be closed to traffic from Jul 7-9 due to the Italian festival (yea, right) so its a win-win for us anyway....the place will be nuts for sure.
I can hardly wait!

We're from NJ (suburban NYC), but I was born and raised in NY and my husband is a native Italian. We spent the Fourth of July with the entire family sitting in front of the television set, and no fireworks could have been louder than the shout that went up when Italy scored its first, then second, goal.
Ready to do it again today.
Re: Soccer - & Celebrations!
This afternoon in Viterbo Italy, a 77 year old man (Rodolfo Profili) died when he fell down from the roof of his house. He tried to put out the Italian flag on which he felt down 8 meters, still having the flag in his hands.

That's awful Edmondo! Poor man must have been so excited about todays game...
My prayers are with his family!
