2nd largest genealogy Library in the World

Post by trevisan2 »

A month ago I toured portions of a university library located in Provo Utah at Brigham Young University. I was impressed that they are rated as number two in the world.

http://www.lib.byu.edu/fslab/records.html#misc

They also have a extensive online book section of family genealogies. I brought back two books from Italy recently with a signed permission to have them scanned and hosted at their site at no cost.

If you have any family genealogy books to donate to the library, and want them hosted for free, please contact the library at the above address.

Regards,

I tried to get a look at an obituary at that site....can't even get to a database search window. Looks like all I could do is subscribe to newletters.

Helen,
The site is limited to these newspapers:
Newspapers currently indexed
Atlanta Journal Constitution
Boston Globe
Chicago Defender
Chicago Tribune
Los Angeles Times
New York Times
Washington Post

I checked Bevilaqua in all - only 6 obits, no luck.

Hi wldspirit!
Another post on this family:
http://italiangenealogy.tardio.com/Foru ... =5629.html
You're right, I'll double check ancestry.
Trying to find Raffaele Belivacqua in New York.
---------
1. RAFFAELE BEVILACQUA He married UNKNOWN (ends in -----ita)
- 1912 & 1913 Amalia & Eugene manifests indicate he was in US
Children of RAFFAELE BEVILACQUA and UNKNOWN are:
2.
i. AMALIA BEVILACQUA
b. 25 Aug 1895, Guardavalle Catanzaro Calabria Italy
d. Feb 1965, Sicklerville Camden New Jersey
- 1913 SS Calabria Manifest with husband AGAITO N MARTINIS & 3 children
joining (father) Raffaele Bevilacqua - at 200 Grand St Manhattan NY
- 1921 SS Canada Manifest with 4 children going to Camden NJ
- 1965 SSDI Sicklerville Camden New Jersey
ii. EUGENE ROSARIO BEVILACQUA
b. 09 Jan 1897, Guardavalle Catanzaro Calabria Italy
d. 18 Mar 1990, Maple Shade Burlington New Jersey
- 1912 SS Sant'Anna Manifest single
joining father Raffaele in NY
-----------
According to his children's (above) manifests he was in
New York.
The ultimate goal is to find Raffaele's wife's name.
Also can't find his manifest (her name wasn't on any of the known children's manifests.)
Thanks! vj

Don't feel bad..my dad can't remember his grandparents names either..I'm having a heck of a time trying to find his maternal side.

Managed to save some of the newspaper links before the trial was over. There were none directly related to the names you are looking for but I'll send them to you anyway for you to go over.

Don't give up...great team here. You have lots of help.
