Re: Passport for CIAMPI, Nunziante

Marriage record Nunziante Ciampi and Maria Rosaria Di Agostino. The record is dated March 30, 1879. I don't have time to translate the entire document just now... http://s2.postimg.org/4h03bex8l/record_image.jpg I found it here https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1951-32068-9587-64?cc=2043434&a...

Re: Passport for CIAMPI, Nunziante

Yeah, life is mean like that sometimes.

Are you certain about the Nunziante name? It is not a common Italian name...

Do you know anything about his wife? Her given name? Surname?

Re: Passport for CIAMPI, Nunziante

You might be able to find details of the case as well as an obituary/burial notice by searching old newspapers. Check here: http://newspaperarchive.com/us/pennsylv ... ladelphia/

There are no resources available for Italian passports, passport applications, etc.

What are you hoping to learn about Nunziante?

Re: Bucci, Massimino from San Salvo, & Casalbordino

Neither name is a commonly recognized Italian nome; see http://www.nomix.it/nomi-italiani-lettera-C.php Before I waste a lot of time telling you things you already know, do you have an ancestry.com account? There are several records relating to Massiminio. What is it you are hoping to find? Canada r...

New €300 application fee for jure sanguinis citizenship

So I just read about this on another board - a soon to start €300, per person, fee for jure sanguinis applications. There will also be an increase in the cost of new passports but (thankfully) the elimination of the annual marca da bollo. The new law is here: http://www.senato.it/japp/bgt/showdoc/fr...

Possibly Jamaica, Vermont?

Re: Locating "Hotel Jamaica" in NY Circa 1913

I'll repost, since my first post mysteriously disappeared since last week.... I discovered an old photo of my Italian Grand Father & his family, circa 1913, taken at a resort named "Hotel Jamaica". See attached. He left Manhattan to move to Montreal, around 1902, but visited relatives...

I had never encountered a filesize limit at postimage.org. I've never registered there but I was just able to successfully upload a 2.37 MB (2,492,308 byte) image file; maybe they have changed their rules?

Re: Looking for Amedeo Cipriani

Is this your Amedeo?

Image

If so, then he was naturalized by 1918; if you can obtain his naturalization documents, you should find his place of birth within.

Re: Looking for Amedeo Cipriani

Okay, I located the passenger manifest you spoke of: http://s27.postimg.org/scri6z5r3/NYM237_672_1124.jpg In the column labeled "Country of which they are a citizen" the manifest clearly lists city names which probably represent either the place of birth or of last residence. Amedeo's appe...

Re: Looking for Amedeo Cipriani

Name changes usually involve simplified spellings or Americanizations. In fact Cipriani is a very common name in Italy, existing throughout the country. See http://www.gens.info/italia/it/turismo-viaggi-e-tradizioni-italia?t=cognomi&cognome=cipriani&x=0&y=0#.U6gAf7Epeno So, there is work...
