Re: What's the Occupation??

No, it doesn't. It seems like a link to something on your PC.

Re: Surnames

This is not relevant for your search, but Ungaro is also common in the area of Salerno province you know. Particularly, in the town of Nocera Inferiore, it is an ancient surname documented since 1200 (of course, as a "noble" family).

Re: Trying to trace village in Italy

Mine can be just a trace...
In Ellis Island, there are only 4 Ellero's (as a name, not surname) from Italy. They all were from Forlì or province.
But, as Suanj said, all the surnames you mentioned are common in Tuscany.

Re: Postcard translation

First I write down what I read, and I translate. It seems to me to read again those letters that my Gfather sent home during WW2. They are not written in a correct Italian, as they were not used to writing. I hope my traslation gives the sense of the letter, as I don't speak fluent English. "Ca...

Re: Birth Translation for Carmine Giuseppe Cillo, Pls

The word is "Fabbricatore" which, literally means "maker". I think this was the word they used for a mason or a master mason meaning that he was "making" houses. Yes, this is right. We still use the word "fravecatore" in our Campania dialect to mean a mason. ...

Re: Help with death record

I'm not sure about the date. It states "6 detto" that means "6 of before told month", but I'm not sure about the month nor the year of the preceding record. Then it states "Domenico Lo Piccolo di Carini morse e fu sepolto nel Rosario" - "Domenico Lo Piccolo from Ca...

Before me, Nicola Bruni, mayor etc etc...appeared Luigi Tantillo of the late Michelangelo, 48 years old, peasant, born and living in this Commune, who showed me a female child, that he declared to have been ...

I suppose you only need the data about the person who died. If not so, tell me. Rosa Miraglia. On August 24th, 1866, at 5 p.m. in the Town House of Marianopoli. Before me, Francesco Landolina, etc etc....declared that Rosa Miraglia died in her house today, at 2 p.m.. She was 84 and a "filandier...
