I think vj is correct about the 1900 census, but dates are inconsistent on immigration.

If Vito immigrated 1892 or later, records will be at Ellis Island. Earlier records are at Castle Garden, but early manifests don't give much info.

Women in Italy keep their maiden names. If you look for ship's manifest you will find maiden names. if you are talking about women born in US, it is difficult unless census has parents or siblings living with them.
