Re: Grandfather's Naturalization Record

That's very common. And don't worry about that. You don't need draft records for dual citizenship. Every one of my great grandfather's records had a different birth date. Only did I know the truth when I saw his birth extract.

Re: Grandfather's Naturalization Record

Ande, just my two cents worth.... I am going through the same thing. My great grandfather was born under one name and it was changed around when he came to America. Call or email your consulate. I did and my consulate said that is no problem, you just must prove that the two names belong to the same...

Re: What Are The Chances?

Good luck! Let us know what happens. And remember, it takes a while for your letter to get there. And then it takes a while for their letter to get back so don't get discouraged too soon. But do provide an email address so they have that option also. That's how my relatives correspond.

Re: What Are The Chances?

exactly...you need to write. Worst case scenario is no one answers. But I had a few and they even went so far as to go and search out records for me. It was great!

Re: What Are The Chances?

Hi Natalie. Both Biff and I can speak from experience. We have both done this. We wrote to potential relatives and have even gotten a few responses and some answers to some questions. I highly recommend doing this. It can be time consuming, but also can be a lot of fun. Here's a link to a site that ...

Re: requesting a family ceritifcate

Hey Dennis. I would like to request family certificates too. Is it possible for you to put here what you emailed to the communes? I would be grateful, as I'm sure many others will be too. Thanks!

Re: Not a "brick wall" but the "GREAT WALL of

I have not looked at this post in a long time. After reading it today, I realize that I need to update it. I have, indeed, found Carmeloni. He is actually Ignazio Carmeloni. I have to give a HUGE thank you to Biff. He was a tremendous help when this thread started. I was new and didn't know anything...

Re: need advice on disiterested but very important relative.

Dennis....I would fly there and knock on her door. But that is me. Actually why don't you send a letter telling her that you will be in NJ on such and such a day and will come by to talk with her. That will get a repsonse from her if she doesn't want you to come.

Re: Need some help please

Clementia Losio could possibly be a relative. As I understand it, the town all these families came from is about 900 population. They should all be related somehow I think.
