Thanks to everyone for all of the information you've gathered. I'm getting more and more confused, as from looking at the census lists the name Alia has taken on all different name variations. I'm not at all sure now if I have the right family. What do I do next? :?

I found three trips by Luciano Alia and it appears that the last time he went home to Italy he was already considered a "non-alien" but rather an American. I was on another website and found the ship manifest and names of my grandmother (Teresa), her mother (Giovanna Sozzia), her father (Luciano), her sisters (Salvatrice and Lucia), and her brothers (Giuseppe and Silvestro). My grandmother's surname was Alia. (I don't believe Alia is the shortened form of another name, but I could be wrong).
